    Description
    The following are the job specific details and tasks for a medical professional:

    • Provide primary or specialty medical care under the cognizance or supervision of a physician.
    • Responsible for a regularly appointed clinic and should be able to provide immediate evaluation and management of emergent problems as they occur.
    • Collect and record, in proper format, medical and social historical data appropriate to the patient's condition.
    • Conduct a general physical examination.
    • May become the primary care manager for a panel of patients. As a PCM, they will be the primary person responsible for the management of the health and wellness of assigned patients.
    • Examine patients, formulate differential diagnostic plans, define and order required diagnostic testing.
    • Interpret examination findings and test results and implement treatment plans.
    • Determine the need for consultation and assist in medical care and treatment provided at the direction of other specialists.
    • Approve/disapprove subspecialty referrals.
    • Answer patient telephone consults with the assistance of clinic staff.
    • Provide primary and secondary preventive maintenance care.
    • Admit inpatients as per the local MTF instructions.
    • Recognize complicated cases, initiate treatment (if appropriate), and refer to a higher level of medical expertise for diagnosis and/or treatment.
    • Plan and initiate proper treatment within defined privileges and the scope of practice of the facility.
    • Identify and report situations and individual cases that have public health significance and carry out effective control measures.
    • Communicate findings, diagnosis and planned treatment regimen to other health personnel either orally or in writing.
    Stabilize and manage a patient in a medical or surgical emergency and/or transfer to physician care.

    • Determine appropriate means of evacuation of emergency patients, prepare patients for evacuation, and arrange for evacuation support.
    • Perform the following blocks: Digital, Local Infiltration, and Intercostal.
    • Maintain inpatient and outpatient medical records in accordance with MTF procedures.
    • Prepare records and reports as required in support of services rendered in accordance with established procedures and utilizing the current medical information systems and electronic health record and the knowledge of outpatient coding and medical informatics.
    • Knowledge of a variety of pharmacological agents used in outpatient treatment, the desired effects, side effects, and complications of their use as well as the accurate administration of the pharmacologic agent, including dosage calculations as required.
    • Clearly communicate to other health personnel either orally or in writing the findings, diagnosis, and planned treatment regimen.
    • Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and react/respond quickly by communicating with other members of the health care team verbally or overhead paging or via telephone in emergency situations.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    To qualify for the position of Physician Assistant, you must meet the following requirements:

    • Education: You must be a graduate of a Physician Assistant Training Program that is accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessors.

    You must also be qualified by academic and practical education to provide patient services as a physician extender under the supervision of a physician.


    • Experience: You must have at least 24 months of experience working as a Physician Assistant within the last 36 months.
    • Licensure: You must have a current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse, as required in the TO.
    • Certification: You must be certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician's Assistants (NCCPA).
    • Life Support Certifications: You must have Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or the Red Cross.
    • Security: You must possess the ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
