    SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Business Unit Manager, this position is responsible for managing a portfolio of standard and custom products through particular attention to long-term sustainable growth, profitability, product vitality, and return on investment.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Actively participates in developing and achieving annual goals for the Business Unit.
    • Actively participates in developing long-term strategy and execution roadmap for the Business Unit.
    • Provides the leadership for implementation of the business plan by collaborating with all cross functional teams including sales, engineering, operations, integrated supply chain, and finance.
    • Functions as the SME to create internal and external competitive advantages for LAPP North America.
    • Owns the opportunity pipeline for the Business Unit; defines, prioritizes, and leads all associated activities.
    • Owns the product roadmap with new product development concepts and product line extension ideas. Utilizes Stage Gate process and Project Management tools for cross functional team involvement.
    • Develops and delivers new product launch packages through collaboration with Sales, Engineering, and Marketing Communications.
    • Leads Marketing activities for the Business Unit with close collaboration with Marketing Communications.
    • Owns all pricing parameters (list price, discounts, special pricing) to optimize growth and profitability for assigned product area(s) and Lapp North America.
    • Actively participates in the SIOP process.
    • Analyzes & communicates monthly product sales and market trends for the North American region. Provides recommendations and leads implementation plans to meet stated goals.
    • Works with key customers regularly to gather customer and market intelligence.
    • Provides in-depth training to LAPP employees, end-users/customers, engineering firms, distributors, and other market participants as required through in-person and virtual presentations, webinars, phone calls, etc.
    • Provides product technical assistance to the Sales team, Distributors and end customers.
    • Proactively collaborates with global product management team, providing input from North American market regarding product strategies, concepts, specifications, cost requirements and other priorities and working with others in the organization to focus on the most impactful products, services, and solutions for North America.
    • Executes Product Change Notice process, as appropriate.

    Competencies

    • Proven experience with electrical connectors, cable assemblies, and wire harnesses in product management or engineering capacity.
    • Experience with developing and implementing long-term product roadmap.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of key market drivers, including emerging technology, competition and ability to integrate disparate data to develop actionable, compelling business strategies for LAPP North America.
    • Strong project management skills – ability to develop workable implementation plans and to prioritize activities for cross functional teams per business plans (on time, on budget).
    • Enhanced financial knowledge and skills and/ or ability to develop same. Working knowledge of key financial ratios, ability to develop business case, including DCF analysis, payback, business forecasting
    • Skills, knowledge and/or demonstrated ability to elicit spoken and unspoken customer needs and translate into actionable business strategy for LAPP.
    • Ability to manage many and changing priorities while meeting critical business commitments. Demonstrates attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work.
    • Strong group presentation skills and ability to present data and relevant analyses effectively.
    • Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to performance.
    • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills through professional communication, strong work ethic, and a positive attitude.
    • Ability to communicate and collaborate across the global organization to achieve stated objectives regarding revenue, profitability, and market share.

    Qualifications, Education and/or Experience

    • 3-5 years of experience in Product Management involving cable assemblies/harnesses, electrical connectors, wire /cable, or electrical/electronic components for industrial applications.
    • Knowledge of industrial market structures, applications, and sales channels.
    • Experience with managing both catalog products and customized solutions.
    • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or a closely related field or equivalent combination of education and product management experience.

    Travel: Up to 50% travel (domestic and international) may be required in this role.

    Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Effective in gathering and analyzing disparate data elements as well as presenting information and responding to inquiries from groups of managers, customers, the general public and global colleagues.

    Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of ERP systems with SAP experience being a distinct advantage; general knowledge of Analytical skills. Tableau knowledge is a plus. Internet software, Lotus Notes, and Microsoft Suite.

    Work Location: This position is located in the US within the Eastern or Central time zones. Travel to the Florham Park, NJ office may be required ad hoc when business demands. Incumbents of this position whose residence is in NJ will be required to work a hybrid schedule (3x per week in office- Tues & Wed +1).

    Compensation: After thorough market analysis, LAPP takes many factors into consideration when determining base salary such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, etc. of the candidate. The base salary range for this role is $115,000 - $125,000 plus participation in LAPP's bonus plan.
