    Job Summary:

    The Instructional Staff I for Barbering reports to the Director of Correctional Education or designee. The Instructional Staff I for Barbering duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, classroom and lab instruction of barbering skills, provide professional leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum, and participate in professional development activities. Other duties as assigned.

    This position will teach at the Mark Stiles Unit. Teaching assignment at the prison is Monday-Friday from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. This position teaches for Correctional Education. They must be able to pass and maintain security clearance.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    Associate degree from a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting agency. Three years of recent experience working and/or teaching in the barbering field.
    Associate degree in Barbering is preferred with Five years of recent experience in the field.
    TDLR Barbers license.
    Experience and/or certifications may possibly be substituted for a portion of the educational requirement.
    Understand the teaching and evaluation methodologies used in the total instructional process.
    Work effectively with students, faculty, and staff members in a professional manner.
    Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.
    Plan, schedule, and manage projects and assignments.
    Establish effective working relationships with others.
    Clearly communicate.
    Must comply with established college rules and procedures.
    Computer skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Associate degree in Barbering.
    Five years of recent experience in the field.

    Commensurate with experience. 12-Month Instructional Staff; Non-Tenure Track Plus excellent benefits.

    Work Hours:

    40 hours a week; Monday-Friday from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Prison
