    An organization within Northrop Grumman's Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) division, SYNOPTICS is the world-wide leader in the growth, fabrication, and coating of crystalline materials used in laser systems. These "solid-state" laser crystals are used in products ranging from medical lasers to military laser systems. The Charlotte facility has been operating for over 40 years in the laser industry and has developed the reputation of providing the highest quality products with timely deliveries. Within the facility, solid-state oxide and fluoride crystals are grown from a high-temperature melt. SYNOPTICS has full optical fabrication capabilities for various plano and spherical geometries.     Job Duties:

  • Performs multiple tasks on an assigned team, project, or functional area.
  • Tasks will typically be performed within full-scale production manufacturing operations and include tasks such as nonroutine and nonrepetitive production electronic, mechanical, electromechanical assembly; quality assurance and reliability testing following established methods and procedures; production scheduling and control; and coordinating, planning, and expediting the flow of material, parts, and assemblies.
  • Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
  • Must be able to pass all job-specific or specialized certification programs required for core tasks or specialized assignments.
  • Provide training to less experienced team members.
  • Participate in program or functional team projects developing process improvement methods, solutions, and procedures to enhance program quality, cost, and scheduling.
  • Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Analytical thought process; data-driven and results-oriented.
  • Regular, punctual attendance is required as well as overtime and shift flexibility when required.
  • Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience working in manufacturing preferred.
  • Previous optical metrology experience strongly preferred.
  • Previous/Current crystal growth manufacturing experience.
  • Salary Range: $31,200 - $50,300The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

    Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
