Job DescriptionOverview:
Seacoast Christian Academy is seeking a passionate and experienced Theater/Drama Teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in theater arts education and a commitment to fostering a love for drama in students from middle school through high school. The Theater/Drama Teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive theater curriculum that aligns with the academy's Christian values and educational standards.
Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development: Design and implement an engaging theater curriculum for middle school and high school students, covering acting, directing, playwriting, stagecraft, and theater history.
Instruction: Teach drama classes that develop students' skills in acting, improvisation, script analysis, and stage presence.
Student Engagement: Inspire and motivate students to explore and appreciate theater as an art form. Encourage creativity, teamwork, and self-expression.
Performance Preparation: Direct and produce school plays, musicals, and other theatrical performances for school events, competitions, and community showcases.
Assessment: Evaluate student progress through regular assessments and provide constructive feedback to help students improve their skills.
Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and structured classroom environment that is conducive to learning and aligned with the academy's behavioral expectations.
Collaboration: Work closely with other faculty members, particularly those in the arts department, to create interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
Professional Development: Stay current with the latest trends in theater education and participate in professional development opportunities.
Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to students interested in pursuing theater at a higher level or as a career.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Theater, Drama, Performing Arts, Theater Education, or a related field.
Experience: Prior teaching experience at the middle school or high school level is preferred. Professional theater experience is a plus.
Certification:Teaching certification is preferred but not required.
Skills: Strong knowledge of theater arts, including acting, directing, stagecraft, and theater history. Ability to direct and produce theatrical performances. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to inspire and engage students.
Other: Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the community. Willingness to participate in school activities and events beyond the classroom.
