    About the department

    The Physiotherapy Department is committed to promoting the highest levels of physiotherapy for our patients. In realising this goal, the department will lead and excel in research, teaching and the use of person centred evidence-based practice.

    The Department provides services on all three campuses of Austin Health, across all Service areas. The department provides care across the continuum from the Emergency Department through bed based services and ongoing ambulatory care.

    About the role

    Grade 2 in ER stream

    Areas for Grade 2 work will include , Neurology/ Neurosurgery / Acute Stroke (Acute Neurosciences) acute amputee and general acute rehab. You will work closely with the Grade 4 on Neurosciences and assist with student supervision. You will supervise grade 1's and AHA's within the ER stream. Assist the seniors in ER to develop and deliver an early rehab service across the acute hospital. You will have regular supervision by a senior PT in the stream as per our Austin supervision guidelines.

    A regular day will see you:

  • Appropriately assess and treat patients in the designated work area and others as directed.
  • Liaise appropriately with patient's family, caregivers and/or relevant others to promote patient care.
  • Appropriately document patient management.
  • Provide relevant information when patients are transferred or referred for weekend treatment.
  • About you

  • A qualified physiotherapist, registered for practice in Australia by the position starting date.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years Grade 1 experience
  • Ability to provide physiotherapy treatment for a wide variety of clinical conditions.
  • Capacity to successfully work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Capacity to work independently.
  • Be available for weekend work as required.
  • Possess a current drivers licence.
