    Description

    Summary



    This position serves as a Veteran Care Coordinator (VCC) in the Diversity Equity Inclusion (DEI) Office and performs duties associated with ensuring culturally competent, patient centered, and effective care for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Veterans within Bay Pines VA Healthcare System.

    Duties


    Supports the implementation of national and VISN-level policies related to LGBTQ+ Veteran health at the medical center and associated CBOCs.

    When the LGBTQ+ VCC becomes aware of an issue, he/she investigates, takes corrective action and, as appropriate, offers recommendations to facility leadership for further action.

    The incumbent serves as a point-person, source of information, Veteran advocate, and problem solver for LGBTQ+ Veteran-related health care issues at the medical center and associated CBOCs.

    Is in regular communication with the LGBTQ+ Program (10P4Y) regarding VA policies and procedures, including participating in offered trainings and conference calls.


    The incumbent utilizes appropriate chain of reporting, coordinates with the EEO LGBTQ+ Special Emphasis Program Manager (SEPM) and works collaboratively to solve LGBTQ+ Veteran employee concerns.

    The incumbent Engages in and monitors mechanisms to provide information to LGBTQ+ Veterans and directs LGBTQ+ Veterans to the appropriate services for care.

    The LGBTQ+ VCC ensures that LGBTQ+ Veterans, facility providers and administration are aware of the LGBTQ+ VCC role and contact information and are familiar with local services.
