    As an HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment and Quality) engineer at Jurupa site California, your responsibilities would include developing and implementing safety protocols based on the LYB HSE standards, conducting risk assessments, ensuring compliance with regulation, managing environmental initiatives and maintaining quality standards within the organization. You will collaborate with the site management team together with the C&LCS HSE manager to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential for this role.

    In liaison with the production unit management of C&LCS, provide HSE support for the operation of the plant/site, to improve health, safety, environmental impact, reliability and quality, as and when needed.

    A Day In The Life:


    HSE

    • Be actively engaged in Safety and GoalZero culture. Lead by example and ensure discipline and compliance.
    • Monitor and review implementation of Environmental, Health, Safety and Operational Excellence standards for the applicable projects and engineering activities, to ensure compliance to internal standards, applicable legislation and permits.
    • Developing Safety Protocols: Creating and implementing safety procedures to minimize workplace hazards and promote a secure environment.
    • Conducting Risk Assessments: Identifying potential risks, evaluating their impact, and devising strategies to mitigate or eliminate them.
    • Ensuring Regulatory Compliance: Staying abreast of relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations, and ensuring the organization complies with them.
    • Training and Education: Providing training programs to employees on safety, environmental practices, and quality standards to enhance awareness and understanding.
    • Incident Investigation: Investigating accidents, incidents, or near-misses to determine root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
    • Auditing and Inspection: Conducting regular audits and inspections to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement in HSEQ practices.
    • Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate records of safety, environmental, and quality activities, and preparing reports for management and regulatory authorities.
    • Emergency Preparedness: Developing and testing emergency response plans to ensure the organization is prepared for unforeseen events.
    • Managing initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of the organization's operations and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations (eg End of Waste, Permit,..)

    Quality - Laboratory

    • Assure that Jurupa site products are of consistent and of high quality;
    • Understand customer needs and requirements to develop an effective quality control process;
    • Devise and revise product or process specifications; Management of data sheets TDS/MSDS & End of Waste
    • Set requirements for raw material or additives for intern or extern suppliers and monitor their compliance;
    • Ensure that quality control standards, methods and equipment comply with Certificate requirements (eg EuCertPlast or US similar certificates);
    • Proactively advise on matters related to quality and drive a quality culture throughout the organization.
    • Quality Management: Overseeing processes to maintain and improve product or service quality, often through adherence to established standards.
    • Continuous Improvement: Implementing strategies for continuous improvement in HSEQ performance through feedback, analysis, and proactive measures.
    • Setup & guide product development trials.
    • Performing quality control (laboratory work).

    You Bring This Value:


    Education

    • A bachelor's degree in engineering, occupational health and safety, or a related field.
    • Certifications: Relevant HSEQ certifications, Certified Safety Professional / Certified Industrial Hygienist.

    Work Experience

    • Minimum of 5-10 years' in polymer, industrial or recycling process.
    • Experience: Practical experience in HSEQ roles is preferred. This could include work in safety engineering, environmental management, or quality control.
