- Assist residents with activities of daily living, personal hygiene and other individual needs, including help with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, dental care, colostomy care, prosthetic appliances, and other needs in accordance with the individual's care plan requirements.
- Assist residents in preparing for scheduled appointments and planned activities including physicians' visits, religious services, shopping or other outings.
- Maintain a comfortable environment for the residents by noting and adjusting room temperature, ventilation and lighting, and adjust to residents' satisfaction. Position the nurse call system to be within easy reach of the resident.
- Assist in dining, both in the dining room and the resident's room as appropriate. Assist with tray set-up, assure that food is easily accessible, assistive devices are in place, and food is arranged for visually impaired residents. Personally feed residents where indicated. Remove trays or dishes in a timely manner and perform after-meal care as required.
- Provide care that maintains each resident's skin integrity to prevent pressure ulcers, skin tears, and other damage by changing incontinent residents, turning and repositioning immobile residents, and applying moisturizers to fragile skin.
- Performs tasks assigned by a licensed nurse to such as vital signs, residents' weights, collecting specimens, etc.
- Observe residents for changes in condition or behavior and report these changes to the appropriate licensed nurse.
- Transport residents to and from meals, therapy, church services and activities or for other purposes as required.
- Understand and practice all aspects of residents' rights including the maintenance of of comfort, privacy, communication, and dignity in the delivery of services to them.
- Performs such other duties as may be assigned from time-to-time including tasks that may not be directly associated with the regular duties of this position.
- Performing range of motion and other exercises with the residents per plan of care.
- Observing and recording resident's progress with restorative activities and goals.
- Instructing staff CNA's on restorative processes and techniques.
- Successful completion of an accredited Certified Nurses Aide course of study.
- Must possess a current Florida license as a Certified Nurses Aide.
- Experience in working as a CNA in a long-term nursing facility is preferred.
- Experience as a Restorative Aid in a long term are facility is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret such documents as care plans, nurses' or doctors' instructions, procedure manuals, safety rules, machinery and equipment operating instructions, etc.
- Writing skills sufficient to document actions taken, write reports, correspondence, etc.
- Math skills sufficient to do basic calculations regarding weight, volume and distance.
