Mechanical Engineer

Mechanical Engineer

at the Pennsuco Cement plant in

Medley, FL .

Responsibilities include:
Maintain a safe working environment at all times.
Monitor methods and equipment with a view on improving performance and efficiency.
Assist in developing and implementing departmental plans.
Assist in identifying courses of action to improve safety, reliability, operational efficiencies, control production costs, and protect the environment.
Assist with reporting, planning, and audits.
Clearly articulate ideas or issues to management.
Compile and complete project packages.
Develop conceptual design layouts and general arrangements as well as preparing preliminary job cost estimates.

Conduct studies of operating procedures to develop methods of prolonging equipment life, increasing mill and kiln efficiency, increase life of mill and kiln linings, improving utilization of fuel, etc.

Provide engineering and installation support as needed to potential customers.
Design and draft using CAD and drafting board.
Direct the work of contractors and plant personnel before, during, and after project.
Collect engineering data for use in preparation of cost estimates for projects.
Assist in the preparation of annual operating schedules, operating budgets, cost estimates, and preparation and justifications.
Will act as an information service to all departments.
Other duties as directed by the Maintenance Manager.

Qualifications:
Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
2+ years experience as a Mechanical Engineer preferably in a cement plant operation environment.
Must be safety conscious.
Must have good leadership and communication skills.
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office suite and MS Project.
Must have basic project management skills.
Knowledge of basic maintenance procedures.

Working conditions:

Works in all weather conditions including heat, cold, ice, rain and in high humidity and is required to work in all plant environments.

Incumbent will be exposed to vibrating equipment, mechanical and electrical hazards and heights. May have exposure to dust, cement, clay, gypsum, sand, diesel exhaust, lubricants, solvents, various fuels, etc.
