    **Transportation Program Planner IV- MassDOT, Boston**

    MassDOTs Office of Transportation Planning is seeking a Transportation Program Planner IV in our sustainable transportation team.

    The sustainable transportation team works on integrating greenhouse gas mitigation into transportation planning processes; supporting increased uptake of alternative fuel and zero emissions vehicles; climate resiliency; and supporting the achievement of the Commonwealths Global Warming Solutions Act targets and other sustainability goals.

    The right candidate for this position will be someone with an interest in sustainability, who is self-motivated and organized, comfortable working on complex projects and learning new content areas, and able to work collaboratively with others to get results.

    *Duties and Responsibilities*

    Perform, manage, and participate in transportation planning studies through the preliminary, conceptual, and scoping phase in accordance with the MassDOT standards, manuals, policies, and procedures.

    Supervise the implementation and administration of plans and programs

    Review and recommend changes in operations relating to program objectives, manage consultant contracts, monitor performance, review work products, and process invoices.

    Draft memos, letters, reports, and other study-related documents and correspondence.

    Determine the methods and approaches to be used in studies and perform various research and data analyses.

    Respond to inquiries, maintain records, attend meetings, and other duties as needed.

    Work collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

    Confer with agency staff to identify problems and needs.

    Perform in a variety of technical analysis, policy development, consultant management, stakeholder communication roles.

    Minimum Entrance Requirements:

    Applicants must have at least (A) five years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional or technical experience in urban planning, regional planning, land use planning or transportation planning, and (B) of which at least three years must have been in a professional capacity, and (C) of which at least one year must have been in a supervisory capacity, or (D) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.

    Substitutions:

    I. A Bachelor's degree with a major in urban or regional planning or transportation, civil or environmental engineering may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required (A) experience.*

    II. A Graduate degree with a major in urban or regional planning or transportation, civil or environmental engineering may be substituted for maximum of three years of the required (A) experience and one year of the required (B) experience.*

    Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.

    Special Requirement:

    For Non-MassDOT Applicants: Applicants for this position must possess a bachelors degree, or higher, in urban or regional planning, transportation, civil or environmental engineering for this position.

    Salary: $72,308 - $102,351 a year
