    Job Title : Registered Respiratory Therapist

    Location: Edison, NJ 08820

    Initial Duration - 3+ months (High Registered possibility of extension/conversion to fulltime)

    Shift Time: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM 3x12s

    Job Summary:


    • The Registered Respiratory Therapist under the supervision of the Director of Respiratory Services, Technical Supervisor, Shift Supervisors, provides and administers all aspects of Respiratory Care Therapy and supportive equipment as stated in the Department Policy and Procedure Manual.


    • Essential Generic Job Functions (List in order of importance):


    • Providing respiratory therapy under medical direction, in the education, treatment, management, & diagnostic evaluation and care of patients in the hospital with deficiencies of the cardiopulmonary system.


    • Performing Intubation assistance as well as Ventilator set-up & management.


    • Gathering all information necessary to properly evaluate the patient's needs, including patient specific disease education as well as testing and consultations with other health care professionals, as appropriate.


    • Developing a rapport and mutual respect with the patient/caregiver, as well as team members, to foster an optimum environment in support of goal achievement.


    • Provides and documents education to patients/caregivers based upon identified needs in an understandable manner.


    • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.


    • Adheres to Client Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.


    • Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 5 lbs. and stands a minimum of 1 hour a day.


    • Contacts: Regular contact with medical personnel and its visitors.


    • Experience with Vents-Required.


    • 1 year of RRT experience in LTC/SNF- highly preferred but no Required.


    • Primary role is on vent unit.


    • In an emergency the RT is required to be part of the Rapid Response team for emergencies on other units.


    • Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1: Week assignment.


    • Every Other Weekend.


    • No holidays-but option to pick up.


    • No on Call.


    • Must be highly reliable and be available to work all days and not have any scheduling issues that are not pre-disclosed prior to offer.


    • Must not have alternative jobs that would interfere with HMH schedule being a priority.
