Job DescriptionDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Assists in providing direction and administration of all programs and services of the senior center.
● Ensures that all program procedures are followed as designed
● Assists the director in managing & maintaining the program's budget.
● May collect and count cash; issues and records receipts and prepares bank deposits.
● May have access to petty cash accounts.
● Assists the director with performing internal program self-audits.
● Assists the director with preparing for and during the bi-annual audit conducted by NYC DFTA
● Assists with the supervision, training and development of staff and volunteers.
● Serves as substitute in director's absence/Provides staff coverage on participant trips.
● Collates and records statistical data for review by the Program Director.
● Arranges for, or refers clients in need of assistance for services such as transportation, homecare,
meals on wheels, Medicare, Medicaid, housing, etc.
● Provides information about health, welfare, education and recreational services to older adults.
● Attends in-service training and staff meetings.
● Interprets the Agency's program to members.
● Works closely with community partners to meet the needs of clients and to publicize programs.
● Answers telephone inquiries and troubleshoots issues that arise, referring calls as required.
● Utilizes a computer, or laptop, to prepare letters, monthly reports, flyers, calendars, etc.
● Place orders to food and program vendors and other suppliers as needed.
● Assists in maintaining inventory of food and supplies.
● Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Associate's Degree, or equivalent experience.
● Knowledge of STARS/Peerplace preferred
● Good writing/ record-keeping skills and the ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
● May require some lifting, room set-ups for programs; climbing stairs may be required.
● Evidence Based Certifications for NYC DFTA funded Senior Centers preferred (required to obtain within 1 year of hire)
● May be required to obtain food handler's certificate
● May be required to work some evenings and/ or weekends, as needed.
● Knowledge of Yiddish/ Russian/ Spanish/ Patois helpful.
● Understanding and appreciation of the roles of race, religion, ethnicity, sexual preference, and individual
values as they relate to serving clients and families.
● May assist in meal preparation and serving.
COMPENSATION:
Rate: $27.47 per hour
