    Radiology Tech Assistant

    Women's Imaging

    PRN - as needed


    Assists the Imaging technologist in performing basic direct and indirect patient care according to the medical center policies and procedures ensuring quality patient care.

    Demonstrates proficiency in assisting technical staff with allExams, administering contrast media, and other related patient care services.

    Responsibilities

    Job Performance


    • Assists technical staff as assigned and performs technical support functions in a timely manner.
    • Utilizes good judgment to plan effectively and solve problems.
    • Is cognizant of radiation safety to self and others.
    • Demonstrates competency in the storage and transfer of exams.
    • Demonstrates competency in preparing patients for procedures and the administration of contrast media.
    • Proficiency in performing vena puncture.
    • Assists in stocking necessary room supplies such as linen, emesis basings, ect.
    Patient Care


    • Assists the technologist in performing basic patient care according to organizational guidelines.
    • Provides patient education and insures correct consent forms are signed.
    • Demonstrates competence in the administration of age appropriate care.
    • Obtains and records adequate patient history and interprets physician's orders correctly.
    • Correctly orders, tracks and charges exams in a timely fashion.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of patient care, comfort and safety procedures
    • Demonstrates knowledge of moving, lifting, transferring and ambulating patients using standard safety practices (or proper body mechanics)
    Qualifications

    Education:
    High School Diploma or Equivalent. Enrolled in Radiological School preferred.

    Experience:
    Experience in a healthcare/direct patient care setting preferred.

    License(s)/Certification(s): Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Current CPR certification or obtained within 30 days for new hire. CNA certification in the state of IA preferred.
