- Assists in the coordination of patient care within the Nursing departments.
- Routinely participates in QI projects and encourages department to continuously improve.
- Attends department staff meetings and In-Service programs.
- Assist with maintaining department logs.
- Assists in orienting new employees and temporary staff to job responsibilities.
- Monitor patient satisfaction surveys (all patients): report service standard of care deficiencies to the Department Director.
- Assists in maintaining equipment and supplies.
- Round on patients and provide medical information and education to patients/families, following established protocols and guidelines.
- Be knowledgeable of the individualized care plan for all patients and provide support to the Department Director with audits.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Serve as a resource to co-workers by answering procedure questions and assisting in problem solving.
- Function as team leader.
- Assist co-workers as needed/requested.
- Support the Medical Center's Mission/Vision/Philosophy positively.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- May occasionally work the floor and care for patients.
- Additional duties will be assigned by the Department Director.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Currently licensed to practice as a professional Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of Missouri.
- Current BLS required.
- Clinical knowledge and critical thinking skills are sufficient for effective supervision of nursing staff and patient care.
- 1-year minimum of bedside nursing experience in any of the following: Medsurg, ICU, ED.
- Demonstrates knowledge of regulating bodies.
- Knowledgeable of and consistently enforces established Nursing, Human Resources, and Hospital policies/procedures.
- Demonstrates positive customer service relations.
- Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.
- Experienced or ability to learn Microsoft office and PowerPoint.
- Ability to learn and adjust to new programs used by the department/hospital.
- Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 10 hours a day.
- Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.
- Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.
- Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
- Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition.
- Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to life and/or carry up to 40 lbs.
- Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
- Ability to travel 0-10% of the time, including flying and driving rental cars.
- To accommodate travel, must be able to transport own suitcases and portable computer estimated at 25 pounds.

Provides assistance to the Acute Care Director to promote and restore patients' health by collaborating to develop day-to-day management and long-term planning of the patient care area; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staffs; providing physical and psychological support for patients, friends, and families.
