    Our primary focus is on our patients, driving all our endeavors. As a Hanger Prosthetist and/or Orthotist, you will utilize top-tier training and collaborate with a diverse clinical community of nearly 1600 providers to deliver or oversee the provision of comprehensive prosthetic and orthotic care. Your responsibilities will include assessing patients, creating treatment plans, executing those plans, following up with patients, and engaging in practice management. For individuals not yet certified, care will be provided under the supervision of one of our certified clinicians.

    You will have the opportunity to blend your unique mix of clinical and technical expertise to assess patients, custom design, create, and fit prostheses and/or orthoses to achieve exceptional outcomes for your patients. Collaboration with other members of the rehabilitation team and leveraging the latest technologies will be key as we collectively strive to enhance human potential.

    Your Contribution:

    Based on operational needs and the size of the Hanger Clinic, and subject to state and/or local regulations, your role may encompass a variety of functions that may include:

    • Work alongside physicians to evaluate and assess a patient's requirement for prosthetic and/or orthotic services; offer treatment recommendations when necessary.
    • Assess and analyze patient needs in relation to illness and functional impairments.
    • Develop prosthetic and/or orthotic device designs.
    • Choose appropriate materials, take measurements, make model adjustments, and layouts, considering new materials and techniques.
    • Conduct fittings, including static and dynamic alignments.
    • Evaluate prosthetic and/or orthotic devices on patients, making adjustments to ensure fit, function, medical effectiveness, and quality.
    • Educate patients on the usage of prosthetic and/or orthotic devices.
    • Identify and resolve issues to ensure patient satisfaction with the provided devices.
    • Provide follow-up care to patients and liaise with physicians.
    • Deliver training sessions to physicians and other healthcare professionals.
    • Implement effective materials management and quality processes to optimize device quality and medical effectiveness, balancing costs and operational performance.
    • Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and other referral sources to discuss prosthetic and/or orthotic services and capabilities; enhance business relationships to secure ongoing and future referrals.
    • Develop and execute strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets in collaboration with management.
    • Maintain detailed clinical documentation in patient records.
    • May supervise residents or recently certified clinicians.
    • Assist other clinical staff as needed.
    • Provide information to administrative staff for reimbursement activities.
    • Adhere to safety regulations, Medicare compliance, other governmental regulations, bloodborne pathogen standards, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.
    • Execute other duties or special projects as assigned.
    • May be required to be on-call, make hospital visits, or work across multiple Hanger Clinic locations.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Hold current board certification in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics from the American Board for Certification (ABC) or the Board of Certification (BOC), or
    • Possess a bachelor's degree in prosthetics and/or orthotics, or its overseas equivalent, and hold current ABC Board-Eligibility in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics.
    • Have a valid driver's license and maintain a driving record in line with Hanger's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures.
    • In states mandating licensure, must be able to secure and uphold state licensure.
    • Open to considering individuals certified in one discipline who desire to treat patients in that area while completing a residency in the other discipline.
    • Open to considering candidates without certification or board-eligibility but with at least five years of proven experience providing prosthetic and/or orthotic services under the supervision of a certified clinician.

    • Thorough knowledge of biomechanics principles, pathomechanics, gait analysis, kinesiology, anatomy, and physiology.
    • Comprehensive understanding of componentry and its suitability and reliability for specific applications.
    • Proficiency in medical terminology.
    • Strong communication skills for clear, concise, and organized oral and written interactions with patients and staff.
    • Ability to educate clinical and non-clinical personnel and customers on patient care service objectives.
    • Active listening, reading, and comprehension abilities for analyzing reports, charts, and correspondence.
    • Capability to evaluate patient conditions and advise physicians on treatment options.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and aptitude for building professional relationships with physicians, therapists, and patients.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Able to use biomedical techniques to lift patients frequently throughout the work day; must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds independently with ease.
    • Capable of walking, bending, standing, and reaching continuously during work hours.
    • Visual acuity (near and far) adequate for maintaining precise records, identifying individuals, and comprehending written instructions.
    • Effective verbal communication and auditory skills to comprehend and provide directions.
    • Able to move wheeled equipment across the facility.
    • Precise fine motor skills necessary for scheduling, preparing patients, equipment, and treatment supplies.
    • Ability to engage in sustained activities for extended periods as per state labor laws.
