- Responsible for monitoring the treatment and distribution system, and make adjustments to ensure compliance with regulations and operational goals including observation, analysis and troubleshooting of equipment and processes, laboratory analyses, enhancing databases, and developing and generating reports.
- Operate and coordinate the operation of treatment and distribution systems utilizing plant computer systems, manual control systems and equipment, and work in a safe manner using all required safety equipment.
- Maintenance of instrument and mechanical systems by inspecting, calibrating, and repairing instrumentation, maintaining databases, maintaining treatment optimization programs, and preparing regulatory reports.
- Perform shift lead and administrative duties including; planning and directing daily duties of treatment tech positions, documenting procedures, training personnel, work order management, participation in staff scheduling, participation in hiring process, and optimizing plant processes.
- Perform maintenance of equipment and facilities including the ability to communicate the status of equipment and processes to others.
- Complete purchase requisitions for chemicals and other materials and receive chemical shipments and other supplies.
- Ability to assist in responses to customer requests and conduct special projects and studies for management as requested.
- Ability to use the computerized maintenance management system.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of Water Utilities operations, policies, procedures, and ordinances.
- Knowledge of water treatment processes and regulations.
- Knowledge of basic water chemistry, biology and math.
- Knowledge of safety procedures, equipment and function of tools
- Knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles.
- Skill in using Microsoft Office, work management, SCADA, and spreadsheet software.
- Skill in reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Skill in communicating policies and procedures.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Ability to balance and organize multiple tasks and projects.
- Ability to work in an indoor/outdoor environment.
- Ability to lift or exert forces equivalent to lifting up to 80 pounds.
- Ability to operate a variety of equipment including, but not limited to a PC, fax machine, radio, laboratory equipment, hand tools, plant process equipment, power tools, instrumentation, calculator, and copier.
- Ability to perform a variety of physical skills including, but not limited to carrying, climbing, dragging, driving, filing, holding, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, seeing, sitting, sorting, squatting, standing, stooping, typing, walking, and writing.
- Ability to effectively communication and receive information through oral communication and make fine discriminations in sound.
- Incumbent is subject to fume/odor, dust/mites, chemical, toxic waste, mechanical, electrical, radiation and explosive hazards.
