- Provide individual and group counseling and special programming for students, PreK-5th grade.
- Develop and implement monthly classroom counseling lessons for character education PreK-5th grade.
- Work with the Lower School Division Head to coordinate the lower school monthly community meeting based on the character trait of the month.
- Provide crisis intervention and assessment for referrals to outside professionals.
- Serve as a resource to all faculty, staff, parents, and students for consultation and professional referrals as needed.
- Provide mental health education and awareness to students, faculty, and administration.
- Collaborate with Student Wellness Team to train faculty and staff on adult/student boundaries, child sexual abuse, and mental health of students.
- Collaborate with professionals in the community to act as a liaison for students involved in treatment.

Westchester Country Day School, a PreK-12 college preparatory school located in High Point, NC, seeks a Lower School Counselor starting in the school year. Candidates must possess a minimum of a master's degree in the field of school counseling and/or licensed professional counseling (LPC). Previous experience working with school-aged children and at least two years counseling is preferred. Job duties will include supporting students, teachers, administrators, and parents with resources and intervention. The counselor will work closely with students on academic, social, and emotional development in an age-appropriate way.
