Research Scientist 1Requisition ID req28830 Working Title Research Scientist 1-Shull Lab Position Grade 11 Position Summary
The Shull Lab technician will be responsible to perform the following duties:
Maintains subject level documentation and prepares documents, equipment and/or supplies
Provide laboratory science expertise, data management, and data analysis on new research activities
Perform mouse and zebrafish husbandry and genotyping via PCR
Prepare frozen/paraffin sections of mouse embryos for histological and expression analysis
Assist in biochemical assays (such as western blotting, qPCR, tissue harvests, molecular cloning, immunofluorescence, histology)
Perform zebrafish microinjections and screening fluorescent transgenic zebrafish embryos/larvae
Prepare common stocks and solutions
Maintain laboratory databases, place laboratory orders, and contribute to laboratory compliance
Additional responsibilities may include independent experiments that contribute to the laboratory's goal of understanding the chromatin landscape in the craniofacial mesenchyme.
Conditions of Employment
Bachelor's degree; no previous experience required.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Willingness to work with laboratory mice and zebrafish. Minimum of two years' experience in a research laboratory setting. Experience with mouse and or zebrafish husbandry, molecular biology techniques, PCR, immunofluorescence, histology, microinjections.
Excellent communication and organization.
