    OVERVIEW:


    The Telecom/Structured Cabling Technician works on customer sites in a variety of environments including new construction, remodels, and operating facilities.

    This position is also responsible for complying with Encore standards for Safety, and Customer Service.

    Compensation Range for this Role:
    $ $28.00 per hour (Depending on Experience)


    Specific Responsibilities:

    • Installs cable and hardware
    • Rough in cable according to design
    • Solders, XLR and other various connectors.
    • Cat5 and Cat6 568A/B terminations
    • Understanding shielded and unshielded part numbers and use STP-UTP
    • DM connections
    • Building and testing patch cables by using Cat5/RJ45 tester etc.
    • Understanding function/installation specs
    • Able to establish pathways, label and pull cable
    • Use a multimeter to test power supplies/change polarity
    • Continuity/ohm check connectors and cables
    • Understands AC and DC testing
    Other duties as may be assigned


    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Knowledge of:

    • Constructability and the construction process
    • MS Office Software and other misc. computer programs
    • Blueprint drawings and how it applies to the project
    • Reading blueprint drawings
    • Wiring diagrams
    • Knowledge of Displays/projectors and hardware of all types
    • Low voltage systems

    Skilled in:

    • Proficient with basic hand tools
    • Conceptual estimating (conceiving a project in your mind and all the components of that project)
    • Working with little supervision
    • Spatial orientation
    • Visualizing the constructability of an estimate
    • Identifying scope gaps in construction documents
    • Technical writing (Requests for Proposals)
    • Estimating resources needed to complete required tasks
    • Adapting to new and changing requirements, environments, and/or information
    • Assist and manage people and processes
    • Using communication software
    • Effective written and oral communication sufficient to be able to elicit and communicate information and achieve understanding
    • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with customers, vendors, consultants, management, and employees
    • Operate Microsoft office products
    • Prioritizing and reprioritizing to meet job needs
    • Identifying and managing risk
    • Tracking numbers and bits of data relevant to the work assignment
