The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, (UTK) Human Resources office is seeking to fill a full-time position as a Classification and Compensation Specialist.
The UTK Human Resources Office provides services to more than 5,000 regular faculty and staff, as well as temporary and student employees.

What is a day in the life of a Classification and Compensation Specialist?
If you are in this role, you f acilitate compensation and classification related activities in support of institutional goals and objectives.
This position is responsible for classification of positions, compensation analysis and recommendations, providing consultative and advisory services to university community, and participating in, and completing related projects including developing and delivering training.

, here is our list of
required education & experience :
·
Bachelor's Degree to be completed by date of hire.
·
One year of human resources experience.
·
Experience providing consultative and advisory services to partners outside of HR on HR matters with the goal of problem solving and creating positive solutions in a customer focused environment.
Experience drawing conclusions, making decisions and effectively communicating them.
While not required experience, we have some
preferences for education & experience :
·
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or closely related field.
·
PHR, SHRM-CP or CCP.
·
Experience with position classification and/or compensation.
·
Experience with HRIS systems.
·
Experience in higher education.
·
Experience with merit/market-based compensation systems.
Additionally, here are a few
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
that our ideal candidate would possess:

Knowledge of human resources practices, principles and applicable federal/state laws/regulations governing employment.
·
Computer skills, including word processing, HRIS, Excel spreadsheet and database skills. Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
·
Ability to work independently and use initiative.
·
Must be detail oriented and have the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
·
Ability to perform research, draw conclusions, and offer effective recommendations.
·
Ability to work with a variety of different audiences and provide excellent customer service.
