    The Unemployment Insurance Support Division (UISD) is actively recruiting an Associate Governmental Program Analyst or Staff Services Analyst position in the Benefit Accuracy Measurement (BAM) Unit 2. The BAM analyst will work independently or act as a team leader to perform a complicated, thorough investigation of Unemployment Insurance (UI) claims, and work closely with the unit manager or journey-level BAM analyst conducting accurate reviews of selected BAM cases, assessing the accuracy and conformity to the Department's UI program and other policy and procedures, as well as the Department of Labor/Employment Training Administration reporting requirements.

    Claims are required to be comprehensively reviewed in order to meet the Department of Labor's quality measurement standards. Reviews include interviews with employers, claimants and field office staff for the purpose of determining compliance under the provisions of the California Unemployment Insurance Code, analyze state and federal laws and regulations to ensure the State continues to administer the UI program effectively and efficiently while protecting the integrity of the UI Trust Fund.

    UI or comparable program knowledge and experience is a requirement, including extensive UI or comparable experience in conducting eligibility determinations.

    Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
    Three or more years of experience in the UI program, in addition to having a strong background in UI eligibility determinations knowledge and experience.
    • Detailed knowledge of UI program processes, UI benefit claim and payment systems, state and federal UI laws.
    • Strong analytical, oral and written communication skills desired.
    • Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities in a cooperative manner.
    • Proficient with computers as required to use EDD software and input data in an efficient and effective manner.

    Background Investigation Requirement
