    Lab Technicians are hired each semester on an as-needed basis.

    They are responsible for monitoring a learning environment in the open studio and computer labs, participating in the maintenance and upkeep of the labs, and assisting with community and program related tasks/events/activities.


    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Monitor Labs:
    a. Be present and available in the labs during open lab hours.

    b. Circulate between labs during open lab hours.

    c. Secure unattended equipment/belongings.

    d. Be aware of situations that require Ivy Tech security to be contacted.

    e. Check out equipment to students.


    Assist students:
    a. Answer questions and assist students with software and project questions from students in

    the labs.

    b. Tutor students in software on an occasional basis to answer specific questions.

    Foundational skill level in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and Photoshop is necessary. Ongoing, lengthy tutoring is the job of the tutoring center.


    Assist VISC Program and Faculty:
    a. Assist with set-up, preparation, and attend Gallery receptions.

    b. Use hand-skills required (measuring, cutting, hanging materials, etc.)

    c. Photograph/video events as requested.

    d. Help with internal/external events for school promotions including but not limited to

    Community visits, Workshops, SBMA Scholastic Judging/Awards, Career Days, Latino Summit, etc. both on and off-campus.

    e. Assist in the distribution/posting/mailing of the marketing materials including invitations,

    posters, programs, etc.

    f. Apply skills in respective areas of Visual Communications to support print, video social

    media and photo recruitment needs of the program.

    This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned.


    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
    A qualified lab technician in the School of Information Technology should:


    • Possess 15+ college credits in a Visual Communications field with a 3.2gpa, Transcripts may be requested upon hire for verification of GPA
    • Available for days, nights or weekends as needed.
    • Able to lift 30+ pounds repeatedly.
