POSITION SUMMARY:
To support the daily operations of the Human Resources Department.
Maintaining the highest degree of confidentiality in all personnel matters, the HR Specialist will serve as point of contact with our employees, leaders and prospective employee candidates.
The Specialist will also be familiar with Human Resources law, apply organizational policies/procedures and work with members of other departments to insure appropriate handling of hiring/onboarding/performance management and employee development.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
He/she must have the ability to demonstrate knowledge of administrative tasks and responsibilities within the Human Resources function.
He/she must also have excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills; advanced computer skills including payroll and HRIS software; exceptional problem solving and resourceful thinking with an ability to exhibit empathy.
Possessing an attention to detail, analytically driven and the ability to coach others, he/she must be able to manage time based on the needs of the association.
As a member of the Y team, he/she will lead by the tenants of the organization, including demonstrating genuine concern, welcoming attitude, hopefulness and a nurturing spirit.
The HR Specialist understands ethical behavior and business practices, and ensures that their own behavior and the behavior of others is consistent with these standards and aligns with the values of the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Serves as first point of contact for day to day employee relations matters
Assists leaders with Performance Reviews, insuring understanding of the process and timely completion
Provides data analytics and the running of reports to assist with staffing, turnover, development needs
Serves as point of contact for all unemployment claims and issues
Trains employees and leaders on policies and procedures and HRIS system
Reviews and organizes shared drive resource to insure currency and accuracy
Coordinates Employee Referral program
Identifies and implements various talent acquisition strategies
Coordinates with the HR Adminstrator to insure a seamless onboarding strategy for new employees
Serves as point of contact for all workers compensation claims
Respond to questions related to benefits, policies and/or procedures
Creates and shares monthly employee newsletter
Serves as the Human Resources representative on various work groups
Creates and promotes Employee Development programs
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or a related field
A minimum of 5 years experience in Human Resource preferred
Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures
Knowledge of employment/labor laws
Outstanding knowledge of MS Office and HRIS systems
Aptitude for problem solving
SHRM certification preferred
