    Job Title

    We are seeking highly qualified and experienced Construction Inspectors to join our team at Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP. Our company is known for its quality work and employees. This is an opportunity to help us design infrastructure and buildings that improve the world.

    We are constantly winning new contracts and looking for inspectors to staff these projects.

    Disciplines:

    • Transportation (Highway, Bridge, and Maintenance)
    • Utilities (Water and Wastewater)
    • Transit-Rail (Freight, Commuter, Heavy, and Light)
    • Building (M/E/P and Structural)

    Responsibilities:

    • Managing and performing daily construction management and inspection services for various types of projects specific to the applicable discipline.
    • Inspecting contractor operations to ensure compliance with contract documents.
    • Preparing daily and weekly reports on work accomplished by contractors.
    • Performing materials testing and maintaining testing logs.
    • Reviewing periodic pay estimates for accuracy with contractors.
    • Preparing sketches and assembling data for engineer use in making changes to the project.
    • Maintaining diaries and reporting on work accomplished and/or noted deficiencies.
    • Performing sophisticated mathematical calculations.
    • Reviewing contractor schedules including initial CPM and monthly updates.
    • Communicating effectively with the engineer, owner, and operational and field staff on a regular basis.

    Qualifications:

    • Relevant construction experience in the discipline applying in addition to required certifications and qualifications.
    • Proficiency in reading and interpreting plans, specifications, and shop drawings as well as overseeing construction document controls and enforcing contract compliance.
    • Inspector: Minimum of three years of specific field construction inspection experience in the specified areas listed below.
    • Senior Inspector: Minimum of six years of specific field construction inspection experience in the specified areas listed below.
    • A valid driver's license and clean driving record.
    • Good verbal and written communication skills.
    • The ability to read/interpret plans and specifications.
    • Writing and drawing skills necessary to complete inspection reports and documentation.
    • BASIC computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) are required.
    • A High School Diploma or State Equivalency Certificate. Bachelor's Degree or other advanced certificate desirable.
    • Willingness to work nights and overtime, when required by the project assignment.

    Inspection Skills:

    • Demonstrated inspection and management experience with transportation, utility, transit, and/or building construction projects requiring monitoring a contractor's work for conformance to design plans, specifications, and general permit requirements.
    • Experience in coordinating inspection duties with multiple simultaneously operating crews; tracking daily quantities, completing daily inspection reports, performing monthly estimates, and as-built drawings.

    Additional Training and Certifications:

    • Transportation: OSHA-10, all VDOT and DEQ certifications.
    • Utilities: OSHA-10 and NASSCO certifications (preferred).
    • Transit-Rail: OSHA-10.
    • Building: OSHA-10 and ICC certifications.
