    This is a safety sensitive position. The Dispatcher operates communication systems utilizing radio, telephone, and computer equipment to provide assistance to Bus Operators and the public. Dispatchers coordinate and dispatch all Bus Operator assignments and provide instructions and direction to operators in areas such as customer service, safe driving practices, and schedule maintenance.

    Individuals in this position will dispatch personnel and equipment in response to service requests, identify, check, and report operational problems to supervisors, make recommendations and proposes solutions to operational issues and prepares written reports regarding transit operations, safety events, breakdowns, and mechanical defects.

    • Hiring Range: $43,783 - $47,286

    What will you be doing in this role:
    • Perform daily dispatching and related activities; coordinate trip assignments; monitor radio communications; monitor operator adherence for show and reporting times.
    • Maintain all dispatch records, including daily time records and prepare reports.
    • Assist in the safety and security of the operations with Federal, State or Local Law enforcement personnel.
    • Prepare, compile, and submit timely reports on work activities, operations, production, or work-related accidents/incidents.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    To be successful in this role you will need:
    • Associates degree in business management, or 60 credit hours equivalent; two years full-time or part-time equivalent dispatching public transportation, high volume service call center, or related field experience will be considered in lieu of education.
    • One or two years related experience in public transportation preferred.
    • The ability to pass a criminal background check, and pre-employment drug screen.
    • Basic computer skills including Microsoft office suite.
    • Ability to learn proprietary software/hardware as necessary.
    • Ability to perform under stressful conditions and react appropriately.
    • Manage multiple priorities seamlessly.
    Physical Demands:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Position requires extended periods of walking or standing and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. May also include frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing, and pulling. Required to sit for extended periods. Use of hands and arms is necessary to reach or use various tools or objects. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
