    Position Summary


    The Department of Radiology has a budding research program that is mission-focused and strives to meet the specific imaging needs of our diverse patient population and the needs of our Health Science Center signature programs.

    Our research program is growing quickly and we need to have the appropriate infrastructure in place to adequately and effectively comply with our research contracts and agreements.

    We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced clinical research manager to coordinate and lead the radiology research program.

    The research manager is responsible for supervising the research team and providing research expertise to faculty, residents, medical students, and graduate students.

    The manager must work with several investigators and departments and must expertly coordinate many types of preclinical and clinical studies including investigator-initiated studies, clinical trials, and prospective and retrospective studies.

    The successful candidate will support Cancer Center imaging research, Human Imaging Research Core (HIRC), and the advancement of radiology research.


    Specific tasks include:
    Identify and create internal policies, processes and procedures to support research program
    Assist faculty in applying for and securing research funding from internal and external sources
    Identify key stakeholders and develop multidisciplinary relationships
    Operationalize research budgets and create/identify administrative tools to provide routine reports
    Identify opportunities to develop patent and commercialization opportunities
    Design novel pathways and tools to support scholarly activities that are required for radiology resident research
    Effectively communicate departmental research mission to physicians and scientists throughout the UNM system
    Hire, manage, and train research support staff
    Ensure research is conducted in compliance with regulatory and institutional requirements.

    In addition, this individual will provide technical and professional coordination and leadership in the execution of day-to-day activities for our expanding research enterprise.

    Currently this position only directly supervises the work of one 1.0 FTE (Research Coordinator), but is responsible for directing the work of many players within the research protocol including technicians, students, residents and informatics team on study specifics and protocol needs.

    High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

    Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
