    Who will you be working with?


    The Engineer III, Software Engineer will work under the guidance of Wabtec's Industry 4.0 Product Owners, Software Architects, and senior developers and engineers.

    This role has a focus centered around the development, enhancement, and support of software that directly supports Wabtec's Industry 4.0 custom solutions with a specific focus on the MES, connected factory, application integrations as well as cloud-based infrastructure as code.

    This role will require the successful candidate to work with functional domain leaders as well shop floor users to develop a clear understanding of the functionality required, testing of the feature set, and training.

    As a member of Wabtec's Global Supply Chain and Smart Manufacturing Team, you will be responsible for ongoing software development that directly impacts our userbase and provides tangible benefits to our global footprint of manufacturing facilities.

    Through our Agile Methodology, Sprint Planning, and an evolving Product Roadmap, you will be able to execute on a variety of software features in our backlog that will require innovative designs and effective solutions.

    Additionally, you will be heavily involved with identifying improvement opportunities, establishing benefit stories, and helping drive the prioritization of software features that are beneficial to our shops.

    What do we want to know about you?

    Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) or equivalent related experience required
    Minimum of Two (2) years of work experience in a software development team.
    Strong on-hands experience in technologies – Angular 11 and above, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Typescript
    Solid experience with Microsoft based technologies - .NET Framework, SQL, C#, and IIS

    Basic and conceptual knowledge or firsthand experience with cloud-based technologies such as AWS, Amazon S3 & RDS, API Gateway, Secrets Manager, Lambda, etc.

    Experience with supply chain manufacturing
    Stated willingness to work non-standard hours/workdays on occasion and as needed to support major implementations and break/fix scenarios that are impacting operations
    Stated willingness to travel domestically and internationally to support major projects. Expected annual travel is

    Conceptual knowledge or basic first-hand experience of project management methodologies with emphasis on agile
    IT technical knowledge and acumen of IT hardware and software. General/conceptual understanding of databases, interfaces, middleware, API's, routers, switches, etc.
    Basic and conceptual knowledge of User Interface design Principles and Human-computer interactions
    Speaks, reads, and writes highly proficiently within the English language
    Articulates technical information to developers, architects, and functional domain experts
    Ability to manage multiple simultaneous Industry 4.0 projects
    Maintains a professional presence – especially during high pressure situations

    What will your typical day look like?

    Develop, enhance, deploy, and maintain software that supports the MES, Connected Factory, and interfaces to pillar applications
    Develop and work within AWS cloud hosted architecture
    Identifies product features and associated benefits and drive prioritization discussions with the respective Product Owner
    Upgrade and migrate existing applications to new software platforms or latest revisions
    Provide L3/L4 Support – including during standard and non-standard business hours
    Design and framework application user interfaces
    Maintains relationships with critical stakeholders to ensure common business goals are achieved
    Support major product go-lives and rollouts by providing on-site startup support & training. This may involve domestic and international travel
    Capture system level requirements by brainstorming with Sr. Architects, Data Scientists, Businesses & Product Managers
    Understand and follow the prescribed governance process and development methodology
    Demonstrate progressive technical knowledge with the technology stack and its impact on the final product
    Engage in technical discussions; participate in technical designs and present technical ideas
    Work closely with your peers and keep engaging in a fast pace technical design and development team
    Execute in a fast-paced delivery mode to deliver functionality to meet the product release goals
    Articulate the need for scalability and understand the importance of improving quality through testing
    Participate in onsite planning, testing, user training, go-live support and other activities as required by the project

    What about the physical demands of the job?

    Employee is regularly required to lead, listen, talk, and participate in multiple conference calls throughout the workday
    Employee is regularly required to work at a desk/computer for the full workday
    Employee will be expected to follow hybrid work schedule (Tues-Wed-Thurs at Wabtec facility / Optional Mon & Fri Remote)
    Employee occasionally may be required to work outside of normal working hours and on weekends or holidays to support planned project implementations, software deployments, break/fix of critical applications, or business travel
    Employee must be able and willing to travel, both domestic and internationally, per Wabtec travel policy
