Job summary
The Fleet Deckhand is responsible for assisting with the safe efficient operation of a marine vessel by performing various vessel-based tasks at the direction of the vessel's Captain or Mate.
Responsibilities
- General housekeeping duties and vessel maintenance checks including sweeping mopping painting using power tools keeping the deck orderly clean so operations can take place in a safe professional working environment
- Inspecting correcting notifying others of any conditions affecting safety of people or cargo examining cables wires lines ensuring they are fit for use tightening loosening same as needed effectively handling tow wires cables securing barges safely environmentally appropriately moving operating portable pumps transferring laying rigging handling lines shifting barges checking over tow as directed
