    The Elanco Fort Dodge site manufactures multi-species vaccines for the Global market which accept USDA registrations.

    We produce over 200 different references of inactivated and modified live vaccine products.


    Our processes include fermentation and cell-based production of viral and bacterial antigens, inactivation, downstream processing, formulation, liquid filling, and lyophilization of finished products.

    The site sits on ~335 acres and is the second largest site in all of Elanco.

    Fort Dodge is the only Elanco Biotech site to have Manufacturing & Quality (M&Q), Research & Development (R&D), and Animal Care in one location.


    Position Summary:
    The Engineering Director has the responsibility to provide leadership for Process Engineering support at the site.


    This support includes both primary and secondary loop engineers with the purpose of ensuring that qualified and compliant equipment is used in the manufacturing of Animal Health Products.


    Additionally, the Director partners to influence and implement improvements across functional disciplines to ensure that the site achieves all business plan objectives and remains compliant with all regulatory requirements.


    Responsibilities:
    Drive departmental activities and align resources to meet short-term and long-term business needs.


    Ensuring business processes are in place to achieve the day-to-day team responsibilities and performance management of headcount, overtime, and departmental expenses.

    Collaborate regularly with Elanco Global Engineering colleagues to identify and replicate best practices and to align activities with corporate initiatives, standards and policies.

    Meet key objectives aimed at improving the value derived from process engineering efforts such as equipment qualification, utilization of first principles, process knowledge and understanding, root cause analysis, mentoring and day to day engagement.

    Impact site expenses, change management initiatives, knowledge retention and deviation root cause investigations in a positive manner.
    Support and encourage utilization of automated systems in new equipment/process delivery and existing processes.

    Provide technical coaching, professional mentoring and career support for direct teams and others pursuing an engineering or management career path; prepare succession management plans for key positions identified in the department.

    Responsible for safety culture, awareness, and accountability within the engineering staff.


    Minimum Qualifications:
    B.S. Engineering required.
    8+ years process engineering experience in a commercial manufacturing environment
    5+ years aseptic and/or biological manufacturing experience
    Experience with Process Safety Management.
    Demonstrated ability to influence individuals and teams.
    Knowledge of equipment Commissioning and Qualification processes.
    Proven experience leading teams focused on process support.
    Strong organizational and time management skills
