Key Responsibilities
80% Regular Maintenance
Undertaking janitorial duties to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in OSU-Cascades' facilities, according to specified schedules and events.
Areas of focus include:
classrooms, labs, corridors, washrooms, meeting areas, offices, dining spaces, living quarters, kitchens, and outdoor zones. Cleaning will be performed with eco-friendly products, advanced equipment, and contemporary techniques. Cleaning routines will cover daily, weekly, monthly, bi-annual, and annual tasks, with special attention during breaks.
10% Facility Assistance/General Support
Performing basic repairs, supporting maintenance tasks, furniture arrangement, light replacements, snow clearing, and aiding in emergencies.
General facility support extends to basic security duties like building access control, lighting management, system checks, and safety reporting.
5% Vehicle Operations and Maintenance
Driving university vehicles for transporting supplies, cleaning, and maintenance. Vehicle upkeep, washing, and assessment for safety.
5% Other assigned tasks
Providing emergency assistance when required by Public Safety and Housing and Dining departments. Additional tasks as delegated.
Qualifications
No specific requirements set for this role; selection based on appointing authority.
Experience Needed:
Minimum 6 months performing routine janitorial duties in a commercial, educational, or public setup.
Demonstrable commitment to diversity enhancement and inclusion.
This role is considered critical and security-sensitive, mandating a successful Criminal History Check for qualification.
Incumbents must disclose convictions. Regular assessments are conducted for those in Youth Programs.
Employment offers are subject to meeting all criteria, including the Criminal History Check mandate.
Driving responsibilities necessitate a clear motor vehicle record, possession of a valid driver’s license, and compliance with University policies.
Preferred Experience:
Over two years in autonomous janitorial work in a commercial, educational, or public context.
At least a year involved in facilities maintenance and vehicle cleaning and care.
Work Conditions / Schedule
This position entails essential duties requiring attendance during adverse weather, emergencies, or campus curtailments.
Versatile work scenarios, indoors and outdoors, will be encountered by the Custodian. Readiness for emergencies and special events is a must.
Expect prolonged standing, walking, ladder use, bending, kneeling, and work in constrained or hazardous spaces.
Exposure to diverse conditions like weather extremes, chemicals, and infectious agents is likely. Compliance with safety gear is mandatory.
Shifts not exceeding 40 hours weekly, variable timings including evenings and weekends, and subject to changes with prior notification.
