    Job Summary

    The Pre-Admit Representative is primarily assigned to the Pre-Admit Unit but may rotate or be assigned to any area or site as outlined in the Admitting Department Expectations.

    The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

    Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however, a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% – 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

    For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

    Required Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Two (2) years experience at the Admitting Worker or comparable level.
    • Proficiency in health insurance eligibility and authorization requirements.
    • Proficiency in reimbursement financial policies.
    • Knowledge of government program regulations, Medi-Cal, Medicare, MIA, C.C.S., and other third-party payors.
    • Analytical Skills: Ability to problem solve; ability to analyze data and recommend changes.
    • Interpersonal Skills:
    • Must have strong customer service skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with a culturally diverse staff and patient/family population.
    • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
    • Admissions, Discharge and Transfer work experience
    • Knowledge of office machines; typing 30 wpm. and basic PC skills.
    • Basic Medical Terminology knowledge
    • Excellent Oral/Written Communication:
