    • Hours of Work: Monday – Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm. After-hours on-call duties on a rotational basis.

    Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time, at-will, benefited Classified 7 level position. Starting salary range: $ $24.91/hour.

    Job Summary: Core responsibilities of this position include:

    The locksmith performs inspections, maintenance, repair of interior and exterior doors, locks and hardware, as well as general building interior and exterior repairs and preventative maintenance of LCCC facilities. This job supports overall department projects, assists in other functional areas, and provides risk management mitigation to all aspects of the job while following and supporting safety procedures, and actively monitoring workplace/jobsite safety. There may be occasions where overnight travel may be required.

    Essential Functions: – this position is Non-Exempt, is eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA. This listing of essential duties is not all-inclusive, but representative; other duties may be assigned).

    • Provides excellent customer service as a professional team member by providing security locksmith services, repairs, preventive maintenance, carpenter functions.
    • Respond to request for locksmith service calls/work orders and make repairs as necessary, including re-pinning lock cores and assisting with the maintenance of the electronic locking system.
    • Maintains campus keying schedules, keying hierarchy, bittings, and lock shop inventories.
    • Performs preventative maintenance and repairs to building systems to include but not limited to wall systems, ceiling systems, flooring, doors, door hardware, windows, window hardware, locks, interior signs, limited roof & general carpentry repairs. Install signage, building furnishings & fixtures.
    • Communicate with College end users regarding structure/equipment malfunctions to isolate problems or to verify that repairs corrected malfunctions.
    • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inspections for assigned areas of responsibility.
    • Install, operate, maintain, and repair indoor/outdoor fixtures, equipment, and architectural/structural systems.
    • Perform accurate administrative duties in support of locksmith and carpenter services.

    Other tasks may be assigned based on contemporary institutional need.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Knowledge

    • Knowledge of general architectural repair with a working knowledge of both general carpentry, interior building wall, ceiling, and floor repair applicable to the maintenance of commercial buildings.
    • Knowledge of OSHA requirements and building code regulations; ability to learn, interpret and apply current pertinent federal, state and local laws and regulations.
    • Working knowledge and ability with personal computing applications – specifically Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), Adobe products (e.g., Reader, Professional), as well as database management systems.
    • Knowledge of basic office equipment including (but not limited to) personal computer and associated peripherals, fax machine, multi-line telephone, voice recorders, and other electronic devices.

    Skills

    • Trade skills in building construction practices and the ability to read and comprehend commercial building architectural blueprints is required.
    • Essential skills include wall construction and dry-wall taping, painting and wall vinyl repair, furniture repair, and experience in the painting of both wall surfaces and metal trim.
    • Trade skills in roofing repair and cabinet work are highly desirable.

    Abilities

    • Ability to properly and safely operate equipment/power tools used in installation and maintenance tasks.
    • Must be able to drive vehicles and operate large complex maintenance equipment.
    • Ability to interpret building blueprints, manufacture installation/repair instructions, and safety data sheets.
    • Ability to read and interpret instructions in oral, written, or diagrammatical form (e.g., a flow chart of a process).
    • Ability to communicate clearly with a variety of people, in one-to-one and small group settings – either face-to-face, by telephone, or by other electronic means – ability to communicate in an informative manner, effectively listen, and be able to handle escalating situations with concern and confidence.
    • Ability to support time-based requests; able to function effectively in a multi-tasking, fast-paced environment with deadlines, frequent interruptions, and some interpersonal pressure.
    • Ability to deal effectively and professionally with people; proven capabilities in establishing appropriate professional rapport, with courtesy and tact, to accurately determine other's needs, collect necessary information, and follow-through when requested.

    Physical/Mental Demands:

    • Frequently required to squat, bend, twist, kneel, sit, stand, climb, and extend arms over head
    • Work in environments and conditions above ceilings, on roofs, outside, inside, mechanical rooms, tunnels, labs, arena, hallways, meeting rooms and various campus facilities
    • Exposure to and use of safety equipment for outdoor weather extremes for extended periods
    • Exposure to and use of safety equipment for hazardous materials, biohazards, chemicals, electrical equipment, and fuels/petroleum products
    • May be required to climb ladders, maneuver in confined spaces, and work with tools/equipment in unconventional positions
    • Instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use
    • Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., machinery alarms, medical codes, or alarms).
    • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Five years of experience as a Certified Licensed Locksmith for commercial
    • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to meet the college insurance carrier requirements.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Associate degree from an accredited institution in a related field of study
    • Two years of experience performing fire extinguisher inspections.
    • Two years of experience including general carpentry or commercial maintenance
    • Certified Master Locksmith
    • OSHA 10 certification or capability to attain certification
