Indiana University Health is seeking individuals who embody these values to join our Transformation's leadership team in the role of Senior Improvement Leader.
We are seeking a high-caliber continuous improvement professional who brings deep Lean Six Sigma expertise, exceptional facilitation capability, and the emotional intelligence required to influence at all levels of a complex healthcare organization.
In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to executive and operational leaders, driving breakthrough improvement efforts and helping deploy the IU Health Management System across the South Region.

The Scope
The South Region Operational Excellence (OE) team plays a critical role in advancing IU Health's strategic and operational performance.
The Senior Improvement Leader supports this mission by:
Leading highly complex improvement initiatives using DMAIC, Value Stream Mapping, and scientific thinking.
Coaching leaders and teams in the deployment of the IU Health Management System.
Supporting the translation of system-wide targets into regional improvement goals.
Facilitating improvement work that spans multiple hospitals, service lines, and executive stakeholders.
This role is essential to meeting the South Region's performance commitments across the Promise Dashboard, Value Proposition Index (VPI), and Management System maturity goals.
Candidates for the position will be evaluated according to the following criteria and competencies.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
5–7 years of continuous improvement experience in a complex, matrixed organization.
Deep Lean Six Sigma experience, including advanced proficiency with DMAIC, recurring facilitation of complex improvement events, and strong Value Stream Mapping/Analysis capability.
Proven facilitation skills — able to lead large cross-functional groups, executive-level workshops, and 1:1 coaching sessions.High emotional intelligence, including strong self‑awareness and the ability to coach, challenge, and influence both executives and front-line teams.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a high degree of professionalism. ( Given the executive-level influence of this role, patterned spelling/syntax errors in written work are difficult to overlook. )
Healthcare-oriented mindset, with experience in healthcare operations or a demonstrated ability to quickly acclimate to clinical and operational workflows.
Demonstrated experience leading training, capability-building programs, or leader development sessions.
Experience applying change management facilitation (e.g., ADKAR) to guide leaders and teams through transitions.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
Preferred
Experience deploying or coaching within a Lean Management System or enterprise operating system.
Experience with tools/methods such as:

Scientific Thinking

3P
HRO principles
SIPOC
FMEA
Experience supporting system or regional performance reviews (e.g., hubs, business reviews).
