    Description:

    Summary: A phlebotomist's primary role is to assist in various assigned tasks, troubleshooting, training, and providing recommendations to improve work efficiency.

    • Experience in blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging, data recording, decontamination, and updating patient information.
    • Collects and stores specimens following established procedures.
    • Properly explains the venipuncture, blood drawing, or other specimen collection processes to patients.
    • Demonstrates techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
    • Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and labels them accurately.
    • Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.
    • Complies with OSHA and DEP regulations and attends department trainings.
    • Answer telephone calls and provide laboratory results to inquiries.

    Skills:

    Phlebotomy, blood draw, venipuncture, specimen collection, customer service oriented.

    Work Environment:

    8:30 am-5 pm, Monday-Friday, with an option for additional shifts every other Saturday from 8-12. This position is in internal medicine.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications: Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, High School Diploma or GED, and 5-7 years of experience.
