    Mission: Ending Child Slavery in Haiti in Our Life Time

    Seeking a Director of Development (DD) for Restavek Freedom (RF). RF is strategically focused on ending the restavek practice of child slavery in Haiti. The DD works alongside the Executive Director and Management Team to manage all fundraising for RF. This position will be based in Cincinnati, Ohio.

    A restavek is a child in Haiti who is sent by his or her parents to work for a host household as a domestic servant because the parents lack the resources required to support the child. As a restavek, the children are exploited and abused by hosts as property and exploited labor.

    The DD will have a monumental and direct impact on changing the lives of countless children and changing an entire culture by leading the funding needs of RF.

    Director of Development

    Position Purpose:

    The Director of Development is responsible for all aspects of Restavek Freedom's fundraising efforts. This includes leadership of the Major Gifts program, raising money for the Annual Operating Fund, writing grants, and organizing planned giving and special events. The role is also responsible for managing team members who support these efforts in a way that encourages their success, growth and development. The DD works closely with the Executive Director and Management Team in all development and fundraising efforts.

    Key Result Areas:

    • In collaboration with the Executive Director and management team, create, manage, implement and evaluate the fundraising strategic plan to exceed goals and forward the mission of RF.
    • Directly develop and grow relationships with existing and prospective Major Donors through community involvement and outreach, phone calls, meetings and written correspondence in order to exceed funding goals and forward the mission of RF
    • Manage and develop team members (staff and volunteers) who will directly develop and grow relationships with existing and prospective major, mid-level and general donors in order to exceed goals and forward the mission of RF
    • Manage and implement fundraising events and initiatives throughout the year to achieve fundraising goals.
    • Work with the Executive Director on the procurement of grants from private and public foundations and help manage grants.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Initiative with an entrepreneurial work style
    • 3-4 years professional fundraising experience or professional transferable experience (i.e. managing relationships with required measurable output, making calls, conducting face-to-face appointments, creating and presenting proposals, and other fundamental elements of client relationship or sales-related activities)
    • Confidence in representing mission and vision
    • Operate and communicate at a high level with a development mindset
    • Confidence in public speaking
    • Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge software knowledge preferred but not required
