Position Summary

The purpose and mission of the Marion County Auditor's Office is to provide oversight, management, and processing of city and county financial transactions.

These include, but are not limited to, property deductions, refunds, and settlement with the units of government, vendor invoices, revenue receipts, payroll and related tax withholdings and all other applicable processing of revenues and expenditures of the city and county.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing oversight and coordination of the weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly payroll runs for the city and county including union positions.

Position serves as a liaison with other agencies and vendors; responds to internal or external questions regarding employees pay. Position requires the knowledge of established policies and procedures, which controls most of their actions. Incumbent will seek guidance from Management when there are no standard policies and procedures available. Position reports to the Director of Payroll.

Position Responsibilities

• Understand and interpret payroll related rules for processes and procedures
• Maintains integrity of all documents and data received
• Processes and maintains all garnishment records including child support for the City of Indianapolis and Marion County
• Loads child support data into the Indiana Child
• Must maintain confidentiality at all times

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent with two (2) years of payroll experience.

Federal, State, and County rules and regulations related to payroll time reporting and payroll procedures, Computerized payroll systems and procedures.

Methods and terminology used in financial and statistical recordkeeping. Basic accounting principles and practices English, punctuation, spelling, and grammatical usage. Customer service techniques for public contact in person, on the telephone, and in written communication. Must possess thorough knowledge of the payroll process. Attention to detail and accuracy are required. Must be proficient in MS Office applications.
