    Description
    Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will:
    Provide outstanding personal leadership, goal setting and staff development
    Set priorities, develop work schedules, and regularly assess progress
    Provide technical leadership, foster creativity and innovation
    Determine root causes of product quality issues and develop and implement systemic solutions to eliminate future recurrences.
    Participate heavily in all phases of product conceptualization, justification, requirements definition, development, implementation, and launch
    Lead cost reduction projects delivering large improvements; focus on design-based projects that consolidate, replace and improve existing materials, components, sub-assemblies and modules
    Interface with marketing, sales, quality, and manufacturing to deliver expected results
    Work with engineering teams to prepare budget and schedule estimates for new projects
    Be an expert in plastics and product design
    Qualifications


    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    BS degree in Mechanical Engineering (a must)
    8+ years of product design and project engineering experience, with increasing levels of responsibility
    Five years of supervisory and project management experience in an engineering related environment
    Experience in project management, scheduling, and mechanical budget development
    Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts
    Proven design experience of high-quality, low-cost, high-volume products
    Evidence in creative thinking used to create effective solutions to both engineering and customer problems
    Proficiency in 3D solid modeling CAD software (SolidWorks strongly preferred)
    Expert in injection molded plastic component design and knowledge of injection molding tool designs
    In-depth knowledge of plastic material uses and applications
    Prior experience with Design for Manufacturability
    Knowledge of FMEA, DFMEA, PFMEA and other quality improvement techniques
    Experience with product testing techniques such as environmental stress or HALT
    Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced team environment
    Track record of achieving results individually and through team leadership
    Strong interpersonal, influencing, and leadership skills
    Excellent English communication (verbal and written) skills
    High energy and an enthusiastic attitude, desire for continued learning, and a willingness to take on difficult challenges
    Willingness to travel to other facilities in So. Cal, Arizona & Tijuana, and in the field as needed

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    Previous experience in the irrigation industry
    Experience with SolidWorks simulation software and mold flow simulation software
    5+ years of experience in the design/development of solenoids and valve products
    MS in Mechanical Engineering or other advanced degree
