Assist the principal in the administration of the instructional program and the operation of the summer school program
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's DegreeValid Texas Administrator's Certificate preferredSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Working knowledge of curriculum and instructionAbility to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectivenessStrong communications, public relations, and interpersonal skillsMaster's Degree (preferred)Valid Texas Administrator's Certificate
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Instructional Management :1. Administer and integrate all instructional programs2. Plan, implement and evaluate the curriculum on a systematic basis3. Provide instructional resources to support the accomplishment of instructional goals4. Evaluate and recommend improvements in the purpose, design, and implementation of the instructional programSchool/Organizational Climate :5. Provide an environment conducive to learning6. Reinforce desired behaviors for students and staff7. Establish and maintain an environment conducive to positive staff moraleSchool/Organizational improvement :8. Establish through a collaborative process a vision for a campus mission9. Develop campus performance objectives and an improvement plan through collaboration10. Develop, maintain, and use information systems necessary to address campus performance objectives including all academic excellence indicators11. Interview, select, and orient new staff12. Recommend employment, transfer, retention, and dismissal of staff [See Board Policy DK, DF series]13. Define expectations for staff performance14. Use developmental supervision with all staff15. Develop leadership among the staff16. Delegate personnel management functions as appropriate17. Complete personnel management reports in a timely mannerAdministration and Fiscal/Facilities Management :18. Develop budget based on program needs, estimated enrollment projected staffing, and other fiscal needs [See Board Policy CE]19. Implement programs within budgeted parameters [See Board Policy CE].20. Comply with all regulations regarding fiscal management21.
Manage the use and maintenance of facilities to provide a safe and clean campus [See Board Policies CKA, CKB, CKC, CKD, CL, GK]22.
Manage and provide required reports for all school operations including, but not limited to, attendance, funds accounting, payroll, and transportationStudent Management :23.Develop a student management system that encourages positive student behavior and enhances the school climate [See Board policy FN]24.
Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and student discipline is appropriate and equitable [See Board Policies FN, FO series]25.
Communicate student management expectations to parents and the community and encourage parent participation in student management activitiesSchool/Community Relations :26.Articulate the school's mission to the community and solicit support in realizing the mission [See Board Policy GB]27.
Demonstrate awareness of school/community needs and initiate activities to meet these needs28. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise and evaluate the performance of professional and paraprofessional staff members as assigned to the Summer School campusOther duties include assisting Dallas County to set bus routes.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Must maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem solving skills while under stress. Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written). Should be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decision-making. Coordinate campus functions. Frequent in-district and occasional in-state or national travel. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
Safety:
Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidences immediately to supervisor, and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
