- Make timely and thorough contacts to assess coverage, liability, and damages for complex claims.
- Determine coverage, establish reserves, and adjust claims promptly as needed.
- Select and manage internal and external resources, such as adjusters and attorneys, for claim resolution.
- Negotiate fair claim settlements within assigned authority level and provide recommendations for claims exceeding that level.
- Document all relevant activities clearly and make recommendations for further actions when necessary.
- Anticipate and address customer needs effectively, both internally and externally.
- Provide guidance and training to less experienced claim representatives.
- Stay updated on state license requirements and participate in ongoing education.
- Maintain a strong understanding of regulatory and legal landscapes.
- Demonstrated expertise in claims handling and legal environments for the relevant business unit.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, decision-making, and organizational skills are essential.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse groups.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and project follow-through.
- Capacity to handle confidential information and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other claims tracking tools.
- Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, legislative issues, and market conditions.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is a must.
- JD may be necessary depending on business unit needs.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in handling highly complex commercial Surety claims.
