    Position: Assistant Professor of Family and Sports Medicine at Lewis Katz School of Medicine, Temple University

    The Department of Family & Community Medicine at Lewis Katz School of Medicine, Temple University is seeking candidates for the role of Assistant Professor (or higher rank) of Family and Sports Medicine.

    • Serve as Lead Team Physician for Temple University Athletics including the role of NCAA Health Care Administrator.
    • Supervise Temple University athletic training staff, graduate assistants, and students.
    • Offer oversight and development of policies and procedures to support organizational growth in line with local and national care standards.
    • Maintain an active clinical schedule within the Family Medicine Residency program to meet patient access demands.
    • Collaborate in developing the sports medicine program in the Department of Family & Community Medicine.
    • Function as the team physician and director of athletic medicine for Division I athletics at Temple University.

    The Department of Family and Community Medicine has an ACGME-approved Residency Program that plays a significant educational role in the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University throughout the curriculum. The faculty are actively involved in clinical practice on the Temple University Health Sciences Campus and participate in research. Faculty members are dedicated to community outreach programs in North Philadelphia.

    Overall goal is to educate medical students, residents, and physicians for today's dynamic healthcare industry. It requires an understanding of how psychosocial factors impact health, sensitivity to patient and community needs, and attention to the economics of healthcare delivery.

    Candidate Qualifications

    • An M.D. or D.O. with board certification in Family Medicine and Sports Medicine.
    • Fulfill academic requirements for a faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher.
    • Hold or be eligible for an unrestricted medical license in Pennsylvania.
    • Current knowledge/experience in crisis management, emergency preparedness, national healthcare trends, best practices in primary healthcare, health/wellness, college health, sports medicine, and health insurance related to NCAA athletics.
    • Support diversity among faculty, staff, students, and patients. Ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 5 years of experience in an ACGME-accredited Family Medicine Residency and Sports Medicine Fellowship as Fellowship Director, Program Director, or Assistant Program Director.
    • 5 years of supervisory, management, or leadership experience with demonstrated emotional intelligence and communication skills.
