    The School of Continuing Education and Workforce Development is an exciting and entrepreneurial office within the College that offers a wide variety of non-credit classes, courses, seminars, and training sessions for the community.     This position is an exciting opportunity for current diesel professionals and retirees to apply their skills and experience in educating the next generation of Diesel Mechanics. Effective presentation skills and expertise in problem-solving approaches are essential in building rapport with students and promoting learning. The Diesel Mechanic Instructor is responsible for classroom and lab instruction, and providing quality instruction for a diverse student population. In addition to instructional duties, the Instructor will prepare course outlines and objectives, evaluate courses offered, and advise students. Part-time staff is authorized to work up to 24 hours a week.

    Essential Responsibilities
    • Prepare students for a successful career in the field of Diesel Technology;
    • Maintain, review, and update course descriptions and outlines for courses of instruction and develop new courses of study as necessary;
    • Develop and manage training and performance improvement materials in support of products, processes, or systems;
    • Participate in departmental activities relative to revising and updating the program(s) in the area of expertise;
    • Apply knowledge of and expertise in an effective curriculum development process to ensure performance gaps are addressed in an analysis phase, and contribute to or may lead to the design of the performance improvement solution;
    • Create and implement a short-term/long-term training plan by working with various stakeholders in supporting products, processes, and systems;
    • Assist in the transition of developed materials to the group responsible for delivering the materials;
    • Promote diversity and cultural competency;
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Academic Dean or Vice President of Academic Affairs.
    Required/Minimum Qualifications
    • 3+ years of Diesel Technician experience.
    • Skill in integrating technology into curriculum and other educational services.
    • Practical experience in a mechanical equipment operations and maintenance including a practical knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical drives system.
    • HS diploma/ GED.
    • Demonstrated ability to interact with a culturally diverse population and to effectively and respectfully function and communicate within the context of varying beliefs, behaviors, orientations, identities, and cultural backgrounds.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • CDL A Operating license
    • Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or equivalent industry-related training
    • Automated Service Excellence (ASE) Master Medium/Heavy Duty Truck Certification
