Job Description
The Najt Laboratory in the Department of Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise at Virginia Tech is seeking a lab manager who has experience with rodent and molecular biology research. The position is responsible for laboratory equipment purchases, writing and submitting Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) protocols. The position will perform rodent behavioral testing, carrying out Mouse Aging Studies, Genotyping, Mouse Colony maintenance, Western blotting, qPCR, and Cell Culture. Collecting animal tissues, for analysis and data entry. It is also anticipated that the successful candidate will train new students and help write manuscripts.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Nutrition, Genetics or equivalent laboratory experience; Experience with SigmaPlot, Matlab, Excel, or other software programs.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Western blotting, qPCR, animal genotyping, feeding studies, cellular fractionation, cloning, and mammalian cell culture.
