    Role Summary


    This role has the blended accountability to leading hourly associates and for planning and managing supplies in order to meet required key performance indicators (KPI) for assigned work area and achieving stated targets for safety, quality, value, and cost (S,Q,V,C).


    As a Supervisor, you will provide a key support role for management and the long-term business strategy of shelf stable product lines.


    Responsible for ensuring that State and Federal guidelines are followed on the production floor and throughout the retort operation, helping drive production activities for accurate product formulations, processing methods and protocol for quality and food safety.

    Key Role Responsibilities

    Coordinate resources, oversee, and monitor execution of department objectives

    Ensure compliance with all internal and external procedures and regulations

    Communicate audit findings to Operations Management that accurately report results

    Execute capital and facility improvements, including installation and operation of pilot equipment and full scale retort processing and packaging equipment

    Produce products according to recipes and processes provided; ensure results are properly documented and statistically sound

    Educate and train employees in S,Q,V, C principles and application in role

    Partner with respective departments (e.g. marketing, quality, operations, engineering) to deliver on project commitments

    Plan and schedule employee development activities that are designed to assist employees in meeting performance requirements

    Identify and address employee and HR issues; Maintain general understanding of bargaining agreement

    Coordinate resources, control resource costs in line with operating budget

    Provide input to operating budget

    Operate and adhere to budget standards regarding staffing and overtime costs and materials usage

    Track work area standards to budget and explain variances to plan; Recommend corrective action

    Identify and implement continuous improvement actions and opportunities

    Monitor results against work area goals that have been set for the Quality team

    Analyze processes, systems, equipment and performance trends across work areas

    Recommend actions required to make improvement

    Education

    College degree preferred – BS Food Science or related work experience or coursework and/or continuing education in food safety and/or shelf-stable food processing and sanitation

    Experience

    Prefer candidate with retort experience in a food environment

    Strong technical background with experience in processing of LACF products

    2-3 years' prior related supervisory experience, preferred in the food industry

    Documented food processing HACCP experience

    Knowledge/

    Skills/Ability

    Technical skills in equipment operation and maintenance

    Understand Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) for food plants

    Understand and able to troubleshoot all activity, systems and processes under supervision

    Understand and properly utilize all lab testing equipment and production equipment
