Your Role

We are looking for a seasoned Full Stack Engineer with deep expertise designing, architecting, implementing, and deploying full stack, scalable, cloud-native, service oriented web applications.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will help shape the future of backend and frontend web development at Appex across our application portfolio.

You will champion our best practices, toolchains, and components, while working hands-on to architect and implement some of our most exciting technologies.

You'll mentor our engineers and be a go-to person to help solve any challenges in backend or frontend web application architecture.

Your Specific Responsibilities Include

Collaborating with engineers across disciplines to maintain overall engineering best practices
Establishing and maintaining best practices and toolchains for backend and frontend web development
Identifying and standardizing shared components to be used across the portfolio
Leading the hands-on implementation for the most strategic web development initiatives
Providing architectural design, strategy, and planning on development efforts across the portfolio
Collaborating with our platform team to identify, prototype, and operationalize new technologies
Leading and mentoring engineering team members
Reviewing backend and frontend web applications on a regular basis and prescribing improvements or adjustments
Providing support and guidance during incident response
Performing technical due diligence efforts on potential acquisitions

By streamlining our end-to-end web development stack and best practices, you'll drive the operating efficiency needed to create more room to focus on innovative and strategic initiatives.

At the forefront of the Full Stack discipline, you'll lead by example and level up the developers around you.

Requirements And Skills

10+ years of software development experience with at least 7+ years architecting and building scalable, cloud-native, micro-service oriented applications using and modern frameworks including but not limited to Express, NestJS, React, and NextJS.

Knowledge of end-to-end DevOps automation with CI and CD pipelines including unit, component, functional, performance, and security test automation
Demonstrated experience developing standards and processes for web development to ensure that quality standards are consistently met and exceeded
Demonstrated experience building and deploying web applications in AWS
Demonstrated experience modeling and deploying both scalable and performant relational and non-relational databases
Ability to uncover root causes of complex technical problems and provide guidance on solving them
Experience and comfort working with cross-functional teams of design, product, growth, and data to deliver great user experiences
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to succinctly represent complex technical concepts to varied audiences and different levels of leadership
Passionate about technology and staying up to date on industry trends
Strong commitment to the continuous improvement of yourself and the web development team
