- Care for cardiac and telemetry patients such as post CABG, post heart transplantation, valve replacement, pacemakers, and AICD patients
- Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
- Perform procedures or other functions as ordered by the medical provider.
- Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
- Perform the administration of prescribed medications and monitors response.
- Maintain a knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment used in the care of cardiac and medical-surgical patients.
- Licensure as a Florida Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations or appropriate compact licensure. If compact license held, active FL RN license required within 60 days of hire.
- Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills
- Current American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- Previous experience in an acute care setting strongly preferred.
- Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred.

HCA Florida Largo Hospital is a 455-bed statutory teaching hospital, nestled in the coastal community between Clearwater and St. Petersburg, serving Pinellas County and patients across Florida. It is part of HCA Florida Healthcare, a family of more than 650 sites of care and the largest healthcare network in Florida. The hospital offers a number of specialty services including advanced cardiac care, from minimally invasive heart procedures to heart transplantation, complex GI services, kidney and liver transplantation, weight loss surgery, advanced stroke care, robotic surgery, and many other services. HCA Florida Largo Hospital's Graduate Medical Education program is affiliated with USF Morsani College of Medicine.
Job Summary and Qualifications
The Cardiovascular Unit (CVU) Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care. In collaboration with medical providers, the RN provides pre-operative and post-operative nursing care for post CABG and heart transplantation patients, as well as pre and post cardiac catherization or electrophysiology lab, and valve replacement patients. The RN serves as an advocate for patients to support an unparalleled patient experience.
