    Position Summary: Prep and assist with food preparation and place out onto the hot food/ salad bars.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Essential Duties:

    1. Follow the prep list created by Kitchen Supervisor to plan duties
    2. Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
    3. Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
    4. Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat etc.
    5. Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food etc.
    6. Prepare simple dishes such as salads, entrees etc.
    7. Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash etc.
    8. Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
    9. Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
    10. Perform other kitchen duties as assigned

    Reporting Relationship:

    1. Kitchen Manager

    Subordinate Staff (providing direct supervision):

    Requirements:

    Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Some companies may have a minimum age requirement of 18.
    • Deli counter or food preparation experience may be required.
    • Ability to lift heavy items, ranging from 5 to 10 lbs, and operate equipment, such as meat and cheese slicers, handling knives, etc.
    • Excellent customer service, communication, and math skills.
    • Ability to speak, read and fluent in English to ensure fluent communication with customers, coworkers, and supervisors who only speak English. Spanish speaking a plus.
    • Ability to comprehend and follow all company procedures and regulations regarding food handling and sanitation.
    • A courteous and efficient approach to handling customer requests, questions, and complaints.

    Work Environment:

    • Store Climate can range, averaging 70-78 degrees, freezer and walk-ins low as 20 degrees.
    • Moderate level noise.

    Travel:

    • No travel needed

    Physical Requirements:

    • Regularly stand, bend, twist, kneel, and crouch; use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear
    • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
    • Ability to stand and move for up to 8 hours per day

    LIFTING: Average Weight: 5 lbs up to 10 lbs. Frequency: Daily
