    Day-to-day:

    A client in San Antonio, Texas is looking for a Property Accounting Manager.

    The Property Accounting Manager is responsible for training, supervising, and reviewing the work of Property Accountants to ensure accurate and timely recording and reporting of property level financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other accounting basis and to ensure compliance with all Embrey policies and procedures.

    This person will have 3 direct reports they are overseeing.

    The Property Accounting Manager and their team will be in charge of the full cycle accounting process for around 20 properties.


    Responsibilities:
    Strategic work 20%

    Oversee, mentor, coach and develop a team of 3-6 Property Accountants to ensure accurate and timely recording and reporting for property level financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other accounting policies.

    Manage all aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close and financial reporting cycles for assigned properties.

    Assist Controller of Property Accounting to develop and maintain policies and procedures for Property Accounting.

    Maintain productive working relationships with EMS regional managers and third-party client personnel.

    Tactical work 80%

    Review monthly financial statements and reconciliations for assigned projects.

    For projects in development, calculation of monthly interest and tax expense related to in-service percentage to record to income statement.

    Record settlement statements on sales, refinances, and purchases

    Coordinate transition accounting from Construction to Operations

    Track holdbacks and maintain accounting for sold entities.

    Generate cash projections and distributions schedules.

    Oversee cash management of Property Accountants and maintain tracking schedule of priority payments.

    Document and record ownership-level transactions based on relevant legal documents.

    Onboard new properties and new ownership requirements for assigned properties.

    Responsible for annual evaluations for Property Accountants

    Educate/train new hires

    CPA or CPA eligible

    Yardi Software
    Bachelor's degree in accounting

    7+ years' experience in accounting with an emphasis in multi- family property management accounting or real estate accounting

    2+ years' managerial experience
