- Mentor students participating in Determined Dawgs Scholar Academy, offering guidance, encouragement, and appropriate support.
- Run nightly study tables to provide academic support and guidance to bridge program students.
- Facilitate daily check-ins with program participants to ensure their well-being and provide support as needed.
- Participate in weekend field trips and off-campus learning activities to enhance the students' educational experience.
- Collaborate with program staff to create a positive and inclusive community for all participants.
- Uphold program rules and university policies to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals involved.
- Communicate effectively and efficiently with the Program Coordinator, Director, fellow staff members and other appropriate campus partners as necessary.
- Training will occur June 24-28, July 1-2 and July 6, and with the Academy running from July 7, 2024 through August 3, 2024.

Summary of Position: Determined Dawgs Scholar Academy (DDSA) facilitates the transition to college for aspiring, conditionally admitted Ferris State freshman who may be the first in their families to attend college, require additional support following high school, or from communities with limited funding and resources.
This position offers a unique opportunity to positively impact the lives of incoming freshmen students through leadership, mentorship, academic support, and personal development. Mentors will play a vital role in creating a supportive and engaging environment for program participants.
Position Requirements:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
•Undergraduate student at Ferris State University.
•Must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher at the time of application.
•Have achieved college sophomore status as of spring of 2024.
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
•Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
•Demonstrated commitment to supporting the academic and personal growth of students.
•Positive attitude, flexibility, and a passion for helping people.
•Must be a Michigan resident.
•This position is not remote or hybrid. This is a face-to-face position.
•Must have availability for some weekend and evening work.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENT:
•Students who were full time status in the spring 2024 semester and are enrolled full time fall 2024 at Ferris State University.
