    Who we are looking for:
    We are currently looking for a Coatings Process Manager to be based out of Harvey, Illinois.

    Reporting to the Quality Manager, this person will be responsible for supporting both the Harvey production and quality teams' utilization of and performance integrity of the coatings process; to create and verify coatings process procedures and standard work used in Atkore's manufacturing facility.

    The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in chemical or process engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

    What you'll do:
    Develop and monitor proper execution of standard work for current coatings process support or personnel.
    Work with and/or lead coatings process personnel to properly maintain the process.
    Testing and monitoring equipment, updating current processes to support SQDS, and conducting risk assessments of process stability and capability.
    Test and measure the coating effectiveness using analytical testing tools.
    Establish safety procedures for individuals working with chemicals involved in the manufacturing process.

    Guide operations to reduce process stoppages in equipment or areas of common occurrence (priority given to areas of highest incident or impact).

    Lead continuous improvement activities using Lean/Six Sigma techniques to identify potential issues and implement solutions.

    What you'll bring:
    Bachelor's degree in chemical or process engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Minimum of 5 years' experience in Engineering or Process Engineering field in a manufacturing environment, with steel, chemical, or food industry.

    Relevant certifications (i.e., SMRP, SMRP) and prior knowledge of non-metallic coatings is preferred.
    Prior experience with coatings process management preferred.
    Knowledge, understanding, and passion for lean and continuous improvement methodologies.
    Knowledge of MS-Excel and other software to analyze data.
    Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills (both written and verbal)
    Teamwork and project management skills, self-driven and accountable.

    Within 3 months, you'll:
    Complete your Atkore Immersion Program
    Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore's Business System through Lean Daily Management and the Strategy Deployment Process.
    Gain an understanding of your team and each product line that is manufactured in the Harvey IL facility.

    Within 6 months, you'll:
    Create and verify coatings process standard work to be followed by current coatings process support personnel.
    Understand the overall organic coating process and testing methods.

    Develop skills in using analytical testing equipment, managing the corrosion testing process, and assist production units on tube coating process, involved in the lean manufacturing projects.

    Assume oversight of coatings process personnel.

    Within 12 months, you'll:
    Independently conduct tests on production tubes, performing all in-process testing.
    Independently conduct corrosion testing on research samples.
    Develop the skills to use advanced analytical testing equipment, while leading continuous improvement activities.
